Night of January 16th
Ayn Rand's play, "Night of January 16th," is a courtroom drama centered on the trial of Karen Andre, who is accused of murdering her lover and boss, the disgraced tycoon Bjorn Faulkner. The play's most unique feature is that the jury is composed of members of the actual audience, who vote at the end of the play to decide Andre's guilt or innocence, resulting in different endings for each performance. The play explores themes of ambition, conformity, egoism, individualism, and, the nature of the human character; through a suspenseful narrative driven by witness testimonies.
